1. Do what you do, while embracing serendipity
Although there are extended periods that might feel grinding where you struggle to make a move, there will definitely be the times where one single move results in an incredible cascade of exploding jewels.
Times when everything seems to fall into place are rare but when they do happen, they usually bring about amazing results (and personal high scores as well).
2. Work in the present, for the future
In life, as in the game, it is easy to have tunnel vision – to be caught up with the minutiae that always seem to dominate our immediate attention. However, anticipating how other jewels will fall when you move others a certain way takes a measure of ability and foresight, and allows a player to give his or her game a semblance of structure.
The bigger picture matters. Our everyday actions should cohere with it, and move us closer to our goals.
3. Tune out the noise
It’s amazing how much better you do in Bejeweled after you turn your speakers off. The serene feeling you get when there are no annoying sirens that play when time is running out and when those tinkles at every move cease.
The removal of distractions put us in a state of flow with what we are doing, and make our efforts seem multiplied
4. Time ultimately runs out
It does not matter how quickly or good your moves were, eventually the timer catches up with you.
"You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough."
— Mae West
What this points to, is an acceptance of an end to the game, but that there aren’t any regrets left at the end of the day.
