After 167 million views and more dislikes than humanly possible, “Friday” is now gone from YouTube.
Rebecca Black’s first music video seems like a bad joke that gets weirder and weirder. After millions of shares and plenty of laughs, it became a YouTube rental on 13 June. Just as the world was recoiling from the cheek of Rebecca Black expecting us to pay USD$2.99 to watch her video, it is now gone from the Internet.

The removal seems to be due to a copyright claim by Rebecca Black. The Hollywood Reporter reported that Black is accusing Ark Music Factory of copyright infringement and unlawful exploitation rights.
The video and song are now at the center of a three-way legal battle between Black’s lawyers, the producers that wrote the song and the studio hired by Black’s parents to record the music video.
Who knew such drama could come out of what some people are calling ‘the worst song ever made’?
While we await the outcome of the lawsuit, the original version of ‘Friday’ is still available (for now) on an educational site called SchoolTube (http://www.schooltube.com/).
